What Naomi says to Ruth regarding Boaz about "sitting still" is a good lesson in having faith, which correlates with the answer that @Jason_ gave regarding God addressing Israel (and us today):

Ruth 3:18

"Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day."

Also, when the Egyptian army was approaching Israel at the Red Sea, God (through Moses) did not tell them to be afraid or to turn and fight:

Exodus 14:13

"And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever."

Just as Ruth was to be still with faith in Boaz "finishing the thing this day", and Israel being still by having faith in God's protection, we too are to be still with faith in Jesus Christ and the work that He alone also finished for us. We 'sit still' and find true peace knowing that the work that God required was perfect and complete by Jesus Christ and through His shed blood on our behalf. Jesus Christ was the sufficient payment that was accepted by God as confirmed in His resurrection on day three.

Romans 4:3-5

"For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
